Tuition and Financial Considerations

Our tuition fees are all-inclusive which means they include all costs associated with class materials such as textbooks and consumable workbooks (this does not, however, include basic school supplies).

Tuition per child:
Gr 1-4 2-day $1,485* ($742.50 after tax refund)**
Gr 5-9 2-day + Online $1,600* ($800 after tax refund)**

Please Note: “Tuition per Child” for the Shared Responsibility Programme is in addition to all available Alberta Education funding per student, including Home Education funding. As part of the registration process, parents sign-over this amount to The Gilbertine Institute. This funding is non-transferable after 29 September.
As the Gilbertine Institute is a registered charity and a significant portion of our instructional time is devoted to religious instruction, we are able to issue each family a tax-deductible receipt for the full tuition amount paid which can qualify for up to a 50% return. This should benefit most families but, if not, Tuition Assistance is available. Note that tax refunds apply to the calendar year tuition was paid, so please select “Option 1 (One instalment of 100% of the total family tuition — Sept 01)” in the Part II documents when registering if you wish to obtain the full rebate amount on your next year’s tax return.

Other Financial Considerations

    • Uniform (up to $180 for base items + socks, dress shoes, gym-strip, and gym shoes)

    • Basic School Supplies (A list of school supplies will be provided in August.)

    • Backpack (Grades 1–2)

    • Carry-On Luggage (Grades 3–12) (Standard size carry on luggage: 9” x 14” x 22”.
(To be used instead of a backpack and to serve as a locker while at school.

Tuition Assistance

Holy House is committed to providing tuition assistance for those families who may not benefit from the tax deductible return and/or who would find our tuition fees a barrier to an otherwise successful admission to our programme. Parents who have limited financial resources, but are committed to the spiritual and academic vision of Holy House, should in confidence apply for a bursary. Contact tuitionassistance@gilbertineinstitute.com for a confidential, simple, but formal application. A family may apply for tuition assistance at any point during the year, should their financial situation change.
Failure to pay tuition according to the family’s chosen payment schedule (see registration form for the various options) will result in the student’s suspension at the end of the term, unless a new payment plan is communicated to and agreed upon by the Associate Principal.

FUNDRAISING & VOLUNTEERING

Tuition fees comprise only one source of revenue for The Gilbertine Academy and Holy House; therefore, all families (parents and students) are expected to contribute to the fundraising initiatives of The Gilbertine Academy and Holy House with their support and presence. This provides an excellent opportunity to model and practise the virtue of generosity, and to demonstrate to the students the importance of cheerful giving for the good of the community.

Past fundraising initiatives at various  campuses have included:

No-drive Bottle Drive, Murder Mystery Banquet, Advent Procession, Family Gaudete Ball, Spring Performance or Spring Tea, Plant Sale, Cookie/Chocolate Sale, Soup & Bun Lunch.

Volunteer expectations per child

2 days (~16 hrs) for the first student + 1 day (~8 hrs) for each additional student. These hours may be divided over shorter periods of time (half-day, school event, etc) and do not necessarily need to be fulfilled in a day!

There are many opportunities throughout the year to help in the school, at events, during field trips, and so on. We ask that families give as generously as they can in this regard as it makes such a significant and positive impact on our school life!
