A Request from AISCA

Our school authority, The Gilbertine Institute, is a member of the Alberta Independent Schools and Colleges Association (AISCA). They are working on an exciting marketing campaign and need your help!

Dear home schooling parents,

We need your help. AISCA is launching a marketing campaign that promotes independent schools as a choice for Alberta children.

In our campaign we are producing videos featuring parents from across the province talking about why they picked an independent school.

We want you to be in the video. It's really quite simple. You just need to complete two sentences, record your answers on your smart phone, and then email the video and consent form to to hello@themetagency.com.

Holy House Edmonton

The Gilbertine Institute is pleased to announce that it is supporting the formation of a parent-led home education cooperative in the Edmonton area, provisionally called Holy House Edmonton. In its first year, HH Edmonton will offer a one day per week programme for children in grades 1-8, on Wednesdays. The day will include instruction in Catholic Culture, Catechesis and Church History, Latin, Art, Music, Literature and Physical Education. An enthusiastic working group has been established to finalize details in the coming weeks. Additional enthusiastic parents are encouraged to join the HH Edmonton Working Group.

Welcoming Andrew Siebert

The Gilbertine Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Siebert to its faculty.  Andrew began his journey to Catholicism through the Anglican Church and is eager to continue exploring Truth, Goodness, and Beauty with the students of The Gilbertine Academy. As an interdisciplinary adventurer, Andrew has greatly enjoyed connecting history, philosophy, and literature in his classes as a teacher in the Republic of Georgia - the land of Prometheus and Jason's Golden Fleece.  Along with teaching AP courses, Literature, and coaching debate, he has spent the last six years discovering medieval castles and archaeological sites with his four homeschooling children.  Andrew loves the outdoors, discussions about the history of ideas, and writing.  His wife Rachel is an avid lover of medieval history, and together they are excited to begin participating in Mass at St. John the Evangelist Parish and celebrating feast days with friends.

At the Gilbertine Academy Andrew will be teaching English and leading socratic seminars in history and philosophy to high school students, with parent and faculty participation.  Andrew will also be directing all English and Social Studies course challenges for students of WISDOM Home Schooling.
